Today is Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day, Den boje za svobodu a demokracii, and it's a public holiday in Czechia and Slovakia.Today is the anniversary of the start of the Velvet Revolution which marked the end of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia.
One of my friends pointed out that if wasn't for 17 November 1989, I wouldn't be here in Czechland now. That's one way of looking at it. I'm just happy that I did end up here in Brno.
