Bulgaria Apologizes

Soviet soldiers in 1968
August 20th was the 45th anniversary of the 1968 Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia.  The invasion was to put down Alexander Dubček's liberal reforms known as the Prague Spring.

The invasion was carried out by the Soviet Union, East Germany, Poland, Hungary and BulgariaRomania was the only Warsaw Pact country not to participate.

Yesterday, someone painted the Sofia Soviet WWII memorial pink.  "Bulgaria apologizes" was painted in both Bulgarian and Czech.
